The weight of the fish will determine the amount of DW-DOM required for injection. Weigh or estimate the weight of the fish.

Weight of Fish x  Dosage = Amount of Injection

· Dose: -

A general dose of DW-DOM is 0.5 ml per kilogram of body weight. This dose may vary
among species and locations. Male carps may require a reduced dose. Ensure that an adequate ratio
of males and females are induced at the same time.

- For most carps, only a single dose of DW-DOM is required.

- For some catfish, a split dose of one quarter and three quarters may be required, one to two
hours apart.

– Injection:

 - Hold the fish firmly and insert the needle into the belly behind the pelvic fin or in the muscle
on either side of the dorsal fin. Inject DW-DOM carefully, and quickly remove the needle. Gently
place the fish into a container of fresh, aerated water.

- Cleanliness:

 - Ensure that all equipment is clean and, if possible, sterilized. Always clean the needle
with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol before and after each injection. Wear gloves.

- Loading:

 - From the bottle of DW-DOM withdraw only enough solution as will be required for the
weight of the fish. With the needle pointed upward, squeeze the syringe gently to expel any trapped
air.

- Recovery - After the fish has recovered from sedation (5 to 10 minutes), return it to the breeding tank.
More than one fish may be induced at the same time.
